100 Dollar Business: The Beginning

I was visiting my family for Thanksgiving when I recieved a call from Carolynn Duncan, whom I have worked with since May at two different companies. She told me of this idea she had… start a business with only a $100 investment and see what magic we can work in just one month! My immeadiate thoughts were positive and excited. It’s that adrenaline rush that comes with a challenge and adventure! I am a History major and until recently have had no real interest in business whatsoever. But that has changed and I find myself relating to those who find themselves lured in by entrepreneural ventures. It’s as if something is missing until you try- you give it your all just to see where it will take you. I have been able to do a lot of research on start-ups in the last couple months and have been exposed to world where I am totally out of my league, but still mesmorized. It was then that I realized that as a full-time student, in the middle of my junior year, approaching finals with a part-time job already, starting a business was probably the last thing I should be doing, but here I am. I will readily admit that Carolynn is really the force behind this business experiment and I am just helping where I can. But, seriously who could turn down an opportunity to turn $100 and a few weeks into something amazing?

As for the busines I am sure that you are just dying to hear what we are doing… So, we were able, through nothing short of miracles, to acquire a kiosk at the Provo Towne Center Mall. We have 5 awesome vendors and a variety of products ideal for the holiday season. Also, we have our “Secret Santa” delivery service. You can sign up at our kiosk to have Santa Claus pay a special visit to a friend, co-worker, relative, neighbor or even a perfect stranger.

Carolynn has been documenting the progress and miracles that have happened since the birth of this idea, as well info. on our products… you can find that at www.hundreddollarbusiness.wordpress.com. I highly suggest you check out what’s going on.
